Glass & Mirror

How to care for your Glass & Mirror furniture and homewares.

General Care

  • Dust surfaces regularly with a microfiber cloth.
  • For light cleaning, use a damp clean, and soft cloth to wipe the glass and mirror in circular motions. Do not clean with extremely hot water, as this can cause thermal shock. Dry thoroughly with a microfiber cloth to prevent spotting and streaking. Always dry immediately after cleaning.
  • Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive products when cleaning, including household spray and wipe.
  • Use coasters, placemats, trivets, tablecloths, and table runners to protect glass or mirrored surfaces & objects from heat, stains and objects with abrasive finishes that may scratch your furniture/homewares.

Focused Care

Along with general care and maintenance guidelines, each material has unique characteristics and care requirements that should be considered. Please follow these additional guidelines to ensure the longevity of your furniture & homewares.

Glass
  • Hand-blown glass may show bubbles, created when the artisan is blowing the glass into its shape or mould.
  • A marking may show on the bottom of your glassware. This marking is called a Pontil Mark and is an indicator of hand-blown glass. This is not considered a product fault. A Pontil Mark is created from the blow pipe that is attached to the glass product during the creation process.
  • Glass can succumb to thermal shock. Avoid washing in hot water when cleaning and placing hot water directly in the vase.
  • Hand-blown glass is not dishwasher safe. Handwash only.
  • Do not place your glassware on hot surfaces as this can damage the glass product or cause thermal shock.
Mirror
  • Do not saturate mirrors during cleaning or allow mirrors to remain wet over time. This can erode the adhesive between the glass and mirror frame. Always dry immediately after cleaning.
  • Do not use harsh cleaning products, including household spray and wipe as these can erode the finish on the mirror frame.
  • Unless specifically noted, floor mirrors cannot be hung on the wall due to their weight. Lean floor mirrors against a wall and install wall tethers to anchor & secure floor mirrors to the wall.
  • For wall mirrors, use D rings and screws for direct hanging and/or a hanging rail. Never place cord or wire through D rings to hang mirrors.
  • When hanging mirrors, always refer to the product hanging instructions and if needed refer to a professional picture hanger to install the item.

Important Considerations

  • Speak with your Designer to ensure the products selected are suitable for your specific environment as well as discuss the level of maintenance that will be needed.
  • As these items are hand-crafted using artisanal techniques, every product is unique.
  • Glass can scratch easily and should not come in contact with anything abrasive. This includes protecting glass surfaces from everyday objects such as keys, vases, tableware etc. where possible.
