Size

A great place to start when searching for your perfect rug can begin with measuring your space and selecting the right size rug.

Rugs can tie a room together, with the right size rug connecting all elements of the room, creating a sense of balance, and in open plan living spaces, defining the different areas of the room.

Selecting the largest size rug for your space will add grandeur and connect the furniture in the room.

Colour

Be colour wise, choose a colour or pattern that accommodates your lifestyle, choosing a darker rug which doesn’t show up dirt or footprints as much, also has the added benefit of helping your furniture stand out.

However, choosing a lighter colour rug can make the room feel spacious and brighter.

A neutral colour choice can create a calming and grounding sensation, whereas a colourful rug can ignite excitement and joy in your space.

Shape

Choosing the right shape rug for your space comes down to personal preference and functionality.

Rectangular and square shaped rugs are the most popular because these shapes can easily fit into a standard room, covering more space, effectively insulating the room.

Although, circle and unique shape rugs can add interest and excitement to your living space or bedroom, while also adding comfort and warmth to the room.

Fabric

Touch, texture and materials play an important role in styling your space. Firstly, ensure the rug feels comfortable and soft under your feet. Also understand what your rug is made from, and how that suits your local weather.

If you live in a colder location, a rug made from wool will keep the area insulated and warm.

For the warmer climates, viscose, jute and wool rugs are all suitable for insulating the room by keeping the hot air out while retaining the cool air-conditioned air inside.
