Kira & Kira is a GlobeWest stockist with two stunning locations on the Gold Coast - their Miami Store and a brand new Showroom and Interior Design Studio in Burleigh Heads. Their newly curated space features pieces from new artists, an expanded furniture range and never-before-seen additions to their collection.
Built on the philosophy that thoughtful design evokes timeless sophistication, Kira & Kira showcases premium furniture, décor, artwork and lifestyle pieces sourced from both local and international designers and artists. Founded by Husband & Wife duo Grason & Simone Kira, the Kira & Kira brand encompasses their two retail locations, Interior Design and Interior Styling services.
We caught up with Simone Kira to chat about her business journey and passion for interior design.
Tell us about your business – as it is now, and your business journey:
Grason and I share a passion for interiors, furniture, and supporting local suppliers and artists. This passion manifested itself when Grason began designing furniture while we were working on our eclectic home, Kira House, filled with pieces that each tell a story. It was during this time that Kira & Kira was born - it seemed a natural fit!
We love helping people create beautiful homes through one-on-one interactions and building community relationships. This complements our Interior Design Projects, allowing us to guide clients through the entire process, from concept to completion. We're always pushing the boundaries of design!
We are also thrilled to announce that we have opened a second location - a brand-new Showroom and Interior Design Studio in Burleigh Heads. In addition to our Miami Store, the Kira & Kira Showroom is a celebration of proportion, form and materiality, blending European influences in a contemporary Australian setting. We’ve used timeless, luxurious materials to stand the test of time, and ambient lighting and architectural features throughout the space. We are so excited to finally see our vision come to life, and to share it with everyone!
What’s your professional background? Specifically, how has it influenced your business today?
Our professional backgrounds are in project management and retail, which really shaped and influenced our business and what it is today. Our project management experience helps with the business side of things, whilst our retail experience was a great way to cement processes for buying and knowing our customers.
We also love working with our team and customers on a daily basis. Our professional backgrounds, infused with our creative desire to push boundaries, and paired with our strong passion for design have been really complementary to the business.
When did you first develop an interest in interior design and style?
We always had an interest in design including all avenues such as fashion, interior, architecture, and art. This is what led us to launch Kira & Kira Store. From when we launched 9 years ago to now, the business has evolved and our direction has shifted at times – we are very proud to reflect on how far the business has grown.
Your store is a space that inspires timeless design for both Gold Coast locals and visitors alike – who and what inspires you?
Thank you! We always keep an open door, making people feel welcome. Grason and I lived in London for 8 years and participated in an abundance of travel throughout this time, this has really shaped our style and design visions.
Working alongside amazing people, building relationships, establishing artists and supporting local businesses is a big one for us. We're all about inspiring others with things that inspire us, and we regularly love to share stories about the pieces we have in store. We're really passionate about longevity; we value buy once, buy well.
How does a typical day for you unfold?
I start the day walking the dogs, grabbing a coffee and heading into the store to work alongside the rest of the Kira & Kira Team Monday - Thursday, while Grason has spent most waking hours designing and working on our new Burleigh Heads Showroom. In addition to our new showroom venture, we bought and have nearly completed renovating a property on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).
