Founded by the dynamic duo Connie and Wayne in 2021, Furnishd is a fast-growing Collingwood-based Interior Design studio that helps clients discover, curate, and invest confidently in stunning products that elevate their space.

With a firm belief that great design should be accessible, Furnishd strives to help time-poor Australians create aspirational design outcomes that enhance their spaces at an achievable price point through an effortless experience.

Tell us about the vision you had and when you first developed an interest in interior design and styling.

We started Furnishd during the pandemic with people like us and our friends in mind — busy business owners, young professionals, working moms and dads etc. Like many homeowners, we hadn't worked with a designer before, and honestly, the idea didn't even cross our minds. Cost and the whole process seemed like big hurdles. Our initial vision was very simple: to make the process easier and more accessible to more people.

To address this, we created our flagship service, the "end-to-end furnishing service". It’s a streamlined fixed-fee approach paired with the flexibility of remote communication, perfect for the time-poor seeking expert guidance on design direction, furniture selections, procurement, and delivery coordination for their newly purchased or renovated homes. Together with our exceptional design team led by Senior Interior Designer Mandy, we're making great design more accessible to families across Australia and New Zealand. From beautiful pieces to hidden gems, we help clients navigate furnishing decisions effortlessly with our extensive industry knowledge and expertise. Through seamless collaboration and a streamlined approach, we ensure clients stay organised and on track with spatial planning, sourcing, procurement, delivery, and installation.

What projects have you recently completed?

Our clients entrusted us with the exciting task of furnishing their newly purchased home in Brunswick East. With busy professional lives and a quick settlement, time-frames were front of mind. They didn’t know where to start or what shops to visit when looking for furniture. They didn’t know what pieces they liked and how to select items that would look good together. (95% of our clients say this!)

Embracing the modern frame-work of the home, our approach was to create a fresh and playful design that would harmonise with the existing contemporary finishes while incorporating their love for mid-century modern elements.

The biggest challenge for this project was the completion time-frames. Focusing on strategic sourcing, we were able to ensure an outcome that was cohesive with the clients’ taste without long wait times.

Describe your business’ style and customer.

Many of our clients lead busy lives and often feel overwhelmed when it comes to curating and sourcing furnishings for their homes. They recognise the time-consuming nature of this task but still desire a cohesive living space that reflects their unique style and personality. Whether they're furnishing key spaces in a newly purchased home, refreshing a tired living room, or undergoing a complete renovation, their primary goals remain consistent: they seek comfort, functionality, and personalised style that aligns perfectly with their lifestyle.

What’s your favourite GlobeWest piece/collection and why?

The Seville Outdoor Range stands out to us as a favourite due to its refreshingly fun and versatile palette and shapes, which are rare to find in outdoor products. The Artie Collection holds a special place too, it’s playful but still mature and refined!
