Project in Focus: Moraea Farm by Linnaeus Collection
Nestled in the heart of Berry, NSW, Moraea Farm invites it's guests to an immersive retreat, where a timeless farmhouse is reimagined with bold flair. Featuring broad, wrap-around verandahs, the cottage welcomes guests to its high ceilings, timber polished floorboards and exposed brick walls.
We sat down with the team at Linnaeus Collection to explore their design philosophy and how they bring commercial spaces like Moraea Farm to life.

Tell us about Moraea Farm's commercial project and what made GlobeWest the right partner for this refresh.
As an existing restaurant space, we wanted to use furniture and decor as a way to uplift the space to reflect the vision we had. The collaboration with GlobeWest was instrumental in Moraea Farm's commercial space transformation. Their expertise in providing stylish and functional furniture made them an ideal partner. The pieces have timeless appeal which complements Moraea Farm's vision of blending modern comforts with authentic farm life. GlobeWest's tailored approach, from consultation to delivery, ensured that the furnishings enhanced the property's aesthetic and functional requirements.

Can you walk us through your design process from concept to completion for both Moraea Farm and Linnaeus?
Our design process was inspired by creating spaces that cultivate connection - to the land and to each other. The experience of visiting both Moraea Farm and Linnaeus Farm provide a breath of fresh air to our guests who can feel relaxed and inspired to focus inward, encouraged by the surrounding landscape as well as the considered internal finishes and furniture.
We have a deep respect - for the land, the architecture, and the community context. In the context of Moraea and Linnaeus Farms, we don’t aim to overwrite what’s there; instead, we have worked within the existing structures to amplify their beauty and purpose.
For Moraea, that meant embracing the agricultural roots of the property - repurposing old sheds, materials and flora, retaining most of the original house structure, and celebrating the sense of charm the existing property had. At Linnaeus Farm, the structure itself is very detailed with exposed timber beams, pitched ceilings and natural timber floors. So styling was a key component in enhancing the existing structure and translating our ethos of ‘regional luxury experiences enriched by nature’.
Concept development is rooted in function and feeling. Spaces must not only look beautiful but work effortlessly for our guests. Rather than seeing structures as limitations, we view them as opportunities to tell a deeper story - one that blends history, nature, and hospitality. The result is an experience that feels grounded, intentional, and timeless.
Commercial projects can come with challenges. What was the biggest hurdle in the refresh of Moraea Farm and how did you solve it?
The biggest hurdle was working within the constraints of existing structure - an approach that was both a blessing and a curse. While the original building offered character, history, and a strong sense of place, it also presented practical challenges: raw concrete floor, exposed commercial kitchen, limited infrastructure, and space.
Rather than force modern solutions onto old bones, we took a patient and adaptive approach - honouring the existing framework while introducing complimentary upgrades that respected the integrity of the site. We added skylights to bring in light and uplift the energy of the space.
The result is a space that feels authentic and cohesive, where the charm of the past supports the needs of the present. In many ways, the challenge became the key to what makes Moraea so special.
What is your favourite GlobeWest product used in this project and why?
Our favorite GlobeWest product used in the project are the Piccolo bar stools. The dark chocolate leather combined with the modern lines of the framework reiterates our ethos of connection, bringing different elements and textures together to redefine ‘luxury’.
When selecting from GlobeWest's range, what features or finishes stood out as ideal for commercial durability and ease of maintenance?
We were particularly impressed by the outdoor chairs made of durable woven plastic and pair beautifully with the teak tables. The powder coated table bases and chair frames are durable and practical - their textured matte finish prevents any obvious fingerprints and the colouring is timeless meaning they will withstand that trap of selecting ‘trendy’ finishes.
The Piccolo Dining Chairs, with their green upholstery, also stood out, adding a vibrant pop of color that aligns perfectly with the interior space of the property’s accommodation space.
How does the design for a commercial space like Moraea Farm differ from your approach for a residential project like Linnaeus?
The design for Moraea Farm’s commercial space focuses on elevating an existing, quite raw barn like style interior whilst honouring the soulful exterior facade of the ivy-clad bricks and sunshine that filters through the grand trees of the alfresco space. We have to be mindful that the design and flow of the space can accommodate both large and small groups.
In contrast, Linnaeus Farm is designed to be a warm, holiday home with soft textures and durable furniture that can withstand family use. Moraea’s commercial space demands practicality and durability for high traffic, whereas Linnaeus focuses on creating a cozy, yet aspirational home away from home.
