Founded in 2015, Granite Lane is a GlobeWest stockist located in Perth. What began as a passionate endeavour by Founders Bianca and Marcus, has since evolved into one of Australia's most esteemed hubs for interior styling, furniture, and homewares.
We caught up with Bianca and Marcus to chat about their business journey and passion for interior design.
Tell us about your business – as it is now, and your business journey?
I started Granite Lane with my husband, Marcus, back in 2015. What began as a small retail collective has blossomed into a destination for beautiful Australian furniture and homewares!
We’re proud to be the leading retailer for GlobeWest in WA—a brand we’re honoured to represent and one that keeps us busy! Combined with our own exclusive pieces that reflect our passion for quality and creativity, we aim to bring beauty into everyday living.
You can find our showroom in Osborne Park, where Marcus and I have built a fantastic team of passionate stylists and designers. They’re here to help the community discover our range of modern furniture and homewares, along with global brands like GlobeWest.
What’s your professional background? Specifically, how has it influenced your business?
Before co-founding Granite Lane, I spent 15 years in recruitment, which has shaped my approach to building our team. Hiring the right people is a key component of our business, and I’m proud to say that each member of our staff brings unique talents to the table. They all share values that align with Marcus and me, which is essential to our culture. We ensure that our team is multi-skilled and proficient in all aspects of the business - this flexibility reinforces the strong team culture we’ve cultivated.
We’ve designed our showroom hours to accommodate our employees and help them maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Marcus and I are hands-on in the daily operations of Granite Lane, especially during busy times. We foster a supportive team culture where everyone feels comfortable communicating and asking for help. We’re proud to have supported one of our Sales team members in earning a Certificate in Interior Design, and they’ve since become an Interior Stylist! We're also collaborating with another team member to help them expand their product design knowledge. By investing in our team's talent and skills, we’re not only strengthening our staff but also enhancing the quality of service and creativity at Granite Lane. This commitment to professional growth is something we’ll continue to nurture, benefiting both our team and our clients.
Can you tell us about your customers? What do you think attracts them to your business?
We genuinely love our customers! The support and loyalty from the Perth and Australian community have been incredible over the years. Spending time with our clients allows us to connect on a personal level, and we truly admire their unique styles and contributions. It’s especially rewarding to see families grow and designing spaces that reflect their personalities and needs.
What attracts customers to Granite Lane is our passion for creating beautiful living spaces and our commitment to providing a personalized experience, such as our 30-minute complimentary consultations in-store to make the design process fun and stress-free (which, I might add, usually runs over!). Our styling services extend to at-home rug consultations, in-home styling sessions, and online consultations, ensuring that everyone across Australia can benefit from our expertise.
We focus on building meaningful relationships with our clients, allowing us to understand their styles and preferences better. With our knowledgeable and friendly team, along with our carefully curated selection of quality furniture and homewares, we keep our customers coming back for more!
Who and/or what inspires you?
My inspiration comes from the vibrant spirit of Australian living. I believe your home should reflect your personality and the beauty of our diverse landscapes. This aligns beautifully with GlobeWest and the evolution of their collection too.
What’s your favourite GlobeWest piece/collection and why?
I can’t go past the Artie Buffet in Powder Blue—I’ve loved seeing the introduction of colour this season from GlobeWest. The shade is beautifully soft, and the gentle curve adds to its charm. I really love this entire Artie collection!
What’s next for Granite Lane?
We’re hoping to expand into a second store in Perth next year, which will give us more room to grow and showcase new pieces from GlobeWest and our own range. Our customers are incredibly eager to see the latest arrivals from GlobeWest and practically race in the moment we post something on Instagram!
