Founded in 2021 by Connie and Wayne, Melbourne-based Furnishd Studio is redefining what accessible design looks like in Australian homes. With a focus on soulful, thoughtfully layered interiors, the studio creates spaces that feel both refined and welcoming - homes designed not just to be admired, but to be lived in, entertained in and enjoyed every day.

What is the professional background of the Furnishd team, and how has it shaped the brand’s approach today?

Our team brings together expertise across interior design, art management, textile specialisation, furniture design, interior decoration and object curation, alongside strong project management and procurement experience.

As the studio has grown, so has our depth. What began as a furnishing-focused service has evolved into a comprehensive design practice capable of resolving spatial planning, bespoke joinery, furniture design, art curation and full installation management.

Today, our strength lies in bridging creativity with implementation. We understand construction realities, budgets, timelines and logistics, allowing us to move fluidly between big-picture vision and detailed execution. This balance ensures each project is not only visually compelling, but fully realised, functional and seamlessly delivered.

How has the business evolved since launch?

Furnishd launched with a clear focus: delivering end-to-end furnishing solutions for residential clients completing renovations, new builds or newly purchased homes.

Since then, the studio has expanded both in scope and scale. We now deliver full-scope interior design services across private residences, workplaces, boutique accommodation and hospitality environments. Our projects have grown in complexity, requiring deeper collaboration with architects, builders and developers from early design stages.

Alongside this growth, we have refined our internal processes, formalising our design phases, strengthening procurement systems and developing a highly structured spatial planning framework. What remains consistent is our commitment to delivering interiors that are both outstanding yet attainable, balancing refinement with genuine liveability.

Describe your business’ style and customer.

Furnishd does not operate from a fixed aesthetic. Each project is shaped by the architecture, the environment and the client’s lifestyle.

Our work is defined by warmth, balance and confidence, grounded in natural materiality, thoughtful proportion and a restrained yet layered approach. We aim to create spaces that feel resolved rather than decorated.

Our clients value clarity, expertise and structure. They are often time-poor professionals who appreciate a calm, strategic process and trust us to elevate their vision while ensuring their home reflects how they truly live.

What does a typical Furnishd project look like from start to finish?

Every project begins with a comprehensive briefing process to understand lifestyle, spatial context, budget and long-term aspirations.

We then move into spatial planning and concept development, resolving circulation, zoning, scale and functionality before specifying individual pieces. This foundational stage allows us to design with intention rather than decoration.

Following this, we establish the material framework and overall design direction before progressing into detailed documentation, bespoke design development, procurement and logistics management. Our involvement continues through installation and styling, ensuring the final result aligns precisely with the original vision.

What’s Furnishd favourite GlobeWest piece/collection and why?

We appreciate the Artie Collection for its balance of playfulness and longevity.

The proportions are well resolved and the detailing feels considered without being overstated. Its versatility allows it to sit comfortably within a range of architectural contexts, from contemporary builds to more layered, character-driven homes.

For our studio, pieces that offer structural clarity and adaptability are essential. They provide a confident foundation that supports a broader material and spatial narrative.

What interior staple could your team not live without?

A well-considered rug.

A rug anchors a space and defines the furniture layout, creating cohesion and proportion within a room. Particularly in open-plan environments, it establishes zoning and warmth while softening architectural lines.

For us, it is rarely an afterthought. It often becomes a foundational layer that informs material selection and sets the tonal direction for the entire interior.

Top three styling tips to elevate your home?

Resolve the layout first. A considered spatial plan will elevate a space more than decorative additions ever can.

Focus on proportion and scale. Furniture that is correctly scaled to the room creates immediate refinement and balance.

Invest in foundational pieces. Quality furniture and lighting create longevity. Accessories can evolve over time, but the core elements should feel intentional and enduring.

What’s next for Furnishd?

The studio is entering a new phase of refinement and expansion.

We are focused on strengthening our position as a full-service design practice delivering increasingly complex residential and boutique commercial projects while maintaining the clarity and structure that defines our process.

Alongside this, we are continuing to deepen our supplier partnerships, expand our bespoke design capabilities and build a portfolio that reflects the evolution of the studio.

Our goal remains consistent: to bridge vision and execution, delivering interiors that feel intentional, liveable and confidently resolved.
