Led by Director Stephanie McKenzie and her incredible all-female team of designers and stylists, Bungalow Home has become a true haven for anyone who loves interiors and beautiful living. Over the years, what started as a passion for design has grown into something much bigger - a creative hub that spans residential interiors, property styling, and BH Studios.
We recently sat down with the team to chat about all things home, style, and inspiration.
What is the professional background of the Bungalow Home team, and how has it shaped the brand’s approach today?
The Bungalow Home team is made up of talented designers and stylists with a wide range of experience within the design world. Everyone brings something different to the table, which gives our work that extra depth and perspective. There’s a shared love for creating beautiful spaces that feel calm, comfortable and elevated, and that really shows up in everything we do.
At the centre of it all is Stephanie McKenzie, the creative force behind Bungalow Home. With a background in business consulting and development, she made the leap to follow her passion for interiors and hasn’t looked back. Steph brings big-picture thinking and a fresh eye to every project, and her energy is the heartbeat of the brand.
Together, the team brings a fresh, refined energy to every project, driven by a shared desire to create spaces that not only look good but feel good to live in.
Describe your business’ style and customer.
Bungalow Home’s style is refined and considered, layered with texture, natural materials, and a sense of calm. We’re drawn to clean lines, unique finishes, and spaces that feel considered without feeling over-styled. There’s a confidence in our aesthetic that’s both timeless and approachable.
Our clients are design lovers, they have a strong sense of style and know what they like but often don’t have the time or headspace to bring it all together. They come to us for our eye, our intuition, and our ability to make the process feel effortless. Trust is everything, and we take a lot of pride in building relationships that feel collaborative and seamless from start to finish.
Are interiors the team’s obsession as well as their profession?
Absolutely. Interiors are what brought the BH team together and continue to be the shared passion that fuels our work. Whether it’s refining a concept, sourcing the perfect piece, or finding new ways to connect people to their homes, there’s a deep emotional investment in what we do.
For all of us, design isn’t something we simply do, it’s a lens through which we see the world and something we genuinely love showing up for every day.
What’s BH’s favourite GlobeWest piece/collection and why?
Ocean Marble – not a piece but a specific material.
Ocean Marble is one of our most loved finishes for its remarkable versatility and timeless appeal. The stone’s natural hues including soft ivories, warm neutrals, and gentle cool tones create a subtle yet dynamic surface that feels refined and approachable, forming a neutral but character-rich base. It can be a stand-alone hero piece or be layered to compliment other aspects.
With its balanced tonal qualities, Ocean Marble integrates beautifully across colour palettes, from warm earthy tones to rich contemporary colour schemes. At home in coastal-inspired, modern minimalist, classic luxury, or hinterland spaces, its elegance makes it not just a material, but a true design stand out, offering freedom to layer in personality and style.
How does a typical day unfold?
No two days at Bungalow Home are ever quite the same, and that’s what keeps things exciting. The day often starts with a studio check-in to align on project timelines, installations, and what’s happening across our design work, property styling and BH studios.
From there, the team branches out - whether it's sourcing, client meetings, on-site styling, or developing concepts behind the scenes. There’s a steady flow of creativity and collaboration throughout the day, all grounded in the shared goal of creating thoughtful, elevated spaces that feel effortless to live in.
Who and/or what inspires the team?
We’re constantly inspired by beautiful design, the kind that feels effortless but is deeply considered. Textures, materials, and architecture all feed our creativity. But it’s also the emotional side of what we do that inspires us, the way a space can shift someone’s mindset or bring calm into their life.
And of course, we draw so much inspiration from each other. The team dynamic at BH is very collaborative - we bounce ideas, share references, and celebrate each other’s creative strengths.
What are your top three styling tips to elevate your home?
1. Start with texture – Incorporating a mix of materials such as timber, stone, and linen adds visual interest and warmth, especially when working with a neutral palette. It’s an easy way to create depth without overwhelming a space.
2. Embrace negative space – Thoughtful styling doesn’t mean filling every surface. Negative space plays an important role in allowing key pieces to shine and maintaining balance within a room.
3. Style with feeling - Your home should reflect who you are. Choose pieces that tell your story or make you feel something, it creates a space that’s uniquely yours.
What’s next for Bungalow Home?
With our rebrand now live and our relocation to Burleigh complete, Bungalow Home is entering a bold new phase. This evolution captures who we are today - a studio grounded in quality, creativity, and thoughtful curation.
Our refreshed identity sharpens our visual and digital presence. From an elevated visual language to a renewed digital presence, every element has been carefully curated to mirror our brand’s evolution.
The move to Burleigh has opened new opportunities to expand our offering and engage more intimately with a like-minded, design-focused community. It’s a space that invites connection and creativity, one that truly feels like home.
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to be working on a series of new projects and creative collaborations that will continue to shape the Bungalow Home narrative. The momentum is real, and we’re just getting started.
