At Home with Carrie Bickmore
Gold Logie-winning TV and radio host, Carrie Bickmore turned to the expertise of Liberty Interiors to transform her outdoor living and dining space.
Founder and interior designer Nicole Rosenberg crafted a haven for both entertaining and relaxation, using a warm, earthy palette of terracotta, clay, and neutral tones. The result is a welcoming area that combines comfort, warmth, and family-friendly practicality.
We caught up with both Nicole and Carrie to talk through the inspiration behind this stunning outdoor refresh and gather some expert styling tips.
Nicole, tell us a bit about the project, and how you came to work with Carrie Bickmore?
I have been friends with Carrie now for a few years and have helped her with different areas of her home throughout this time! We have always wanted to furnish the outdoor area but wasn’t one of those areas we wanted to rush into straight away. I always like to let clients use their outdoor spaces for a few seasons (with whatever furniture they already have) to really firm up how they use the space whilst entertaining but also just in day to day use with family and of course kids!
Tell us a bit about the design brief you received from Carrie Bickmore? And how do you see Carrie’s personal style portrayed with the design choices you made?
Carrie loves entertaining – the more the merrier! So I really wanted to focus on designing areas with maximum seating both in the lounge and dining zones. When selecting furniture for expansive spaces I always like to select a modular option so that you can just keep adding on pieces to get to the perfect size for the space. Modular pieces are also an excellent option if you need to completely clear the space for parties/functions because they are so much easier to move around. I also had to think about durability and the pieces being low maintenance in all spaces considering Carrie’s younger kids and how they would use the furniture pieces on a day to day basis.
What were some of the key considerations you made when proposing furniture options for Carrie? What drove your product choices?
Carrie’s outdoor area is bordered with red brick but is still softened by lots of greenery and a deep grey paver floor tile – I was really conscious to dive into these earther tones and steer clear of cooler tones when selecting the outdoor pieces. This helped make the entire outdoor zone feel cohesive and calm and doesn’t fight with the beautiful traditional clay tones in the brick. I opted for a low maintenance and extremely durable option in the Valencia Dining Table with its full proof travertine look ceramic top and aluminium frame. The super cool Frankie Outdoor Tube Occasional Chairs in Dessert Rhythm Clay with its Sunbrella fabric and removable covers for cleaning purposes were a definite on our selection list – we also loved that these were super light weight so a great piece that can be moved around the space for different optionality when entertaining. I was very conscious when selecting the lounge to keep in mind that it would get constant sun throughout the day so the Cabana Weave Modular Sofa was a great choice in Ivory/Brique with its Melange solution dyed fabric which holds up to constant UV light exposure without rapidly breaking down – it is also stain resistant, water repellent and mold/mildew resistant!
What’s your favourite GlobeWest piece you selected for Carrie?
I have two!!!
I can’t go past the Frankie Outdoor Tube Occasional Chairs because the fabric is so cool and different and I also the love the slouchy laid back look nature of the chair. I also LOVE the colour and weave look of the Corsica Scoop Dining Chairs in Brique and the detailed powder coated legs in the same colour.

Carrie, why did you choose to work with an Interior Designer, in particular, Nicole Rosenberg?
Nicole and I have been friends for years and she has completely changed the way I feel about my home. I always ask her for advice on colours and styles because she is so great at working out what would look good but also what is functional for a house with kids!
What’s your favourite part of your outdoor space?
I love entertaining so my favourite part of the outdoor space is the dining table and chairs. It's hard to find a good big table that can fit everyone and comfy outdoor chairs for those long nights spent chatting and laughing while having a bbq.
What’s your favorite GlobeWest piece, and what do you love about it?
I think my absolute favourite piece is the Frankie Outdoor Tube Occasional Chair. They are so deep and comfy. Everyone fights over them in my house because they are so cosy.
