Pantone have announced their 2021 colour(s) of the year and they are Ultimate Grey and Illuminating Yellow.
Pantone describes them as "A marriage of colour conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting."
“The union of an enduring Ultimate Grey with the vibrant yellow illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a colour combination that gives us resilience and home. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit.” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute.

In considering the recent announcement, the GlobeWest design team felt the colour duo fits with the more confident use of colour developing in Eclectic spaces.
"Pantone’s announcement also aligns with our focus on delivering optimism after an extremely challenging year”, says Keti Lytras, GlobeWest Head of Creative.
“2020 has had a profound effect on our needs and wants for our homes”, says Lytras.” Comfort and harmony remain as significant as ever, but as we emerge, stirring imagination and awakening the senses are equally important for our happiness at home.” she continues.
"From a trend perspective, the colour duo fits best within our recently announced Curated Collage 2021 Design Direction", says GlobeWest Head of Creative, Keti Lytras. "Here we see irreverence igniting in a kaleidoscope of colour and contrast, where everyday materials meld with the wild and luxurious to awaken the senses.
Quirky forms, asymmetric and organic silhouettes are skilfully curated in a perfectly balanced collage against a colourful palette." Keti continues.
"As it's a lighter shade of yellow, we can also see this sitting beautifully in more neutral, Contemporary spaces, conveying a warm and welcoming sense in a room." Concludes Keti.
