What’s your professional background and how has it influenced your work today?
I have always had a passion for property and interiors which initially lead me to a career in real estate. I enjoyed seeing a broad range of property across Melbourne and this gave me an insight into interiors and the power of professionally styling a property for sale. Seeing clients continually get great results with their properties drove my passion.

When did you first develop an interest in interior design and styling?
I had an interest in interior design and styling from a really young age. I’ve always had a passion for beautiful pieces in a home and when I started my real estate career, my passion for design and interiors only grew further, which is why I took a leap of faith and started Kmode 6 years ago.
Describe Kmode’s style and customer:
Kmode offers a styling service tailored to the requirements of each individual property. Our look is fresh, clean and contemporary and we like to offer a premium service to all of our clients, whether they own a one-bedroom apartment or a multi-million-dollar home. We work closely with real estate agents, private clients and developers to ensure we are achieving the highest possible sale price for their properties all over Melbourne.

We also offer a bespoke private styling service where we work closely with our clients to create their dream home. Our style is tailored to the modern Australian lifestyle; transterior flow through indoor/outdoor spaces, beautiful artwork, soft furnishings and the inclusion of greenery throughout the home. We believe in a collaborative approach to our styling work and one where we try to inspire our clients to find their own personal style.
What interior design staple could you not live without?
A tape measure! An absolute essential for a stylist.
What's your styling advice for those wanting to style to sell?
Declutter your space! Put personal pieces away and remember less is more, which can be difficult if you’re selling a home you have lived in for many years! Light and bright always sells.
Open blinds, curtains and let as much natural light in as possible. Creating a sensory journey for potential purchasers is always a good idea too. Include beautiful fragrant florals, light a candle and make a warm and inviting environment for those coming through with the intent of purchasing a new home.
If there is ever any doubt about your current furnishings or styling, don’t hesitate to consult a professional. They will work to ensure your house is ready for Auction Day and make decisions based on getting you the best possible result, rather than ones that are based on emotional attachments.
Who and/or what inspires you?
So many things! Pinterest and Social Media are constant sources of inspiration. I’m also very lucky to be surrounded by an incredibly talented team that constantly surprise me with their thinking outside of the box, their work ethic and their eagerness to please their clients.

What do you love to do in your spare time?
Our weeks are often so full-on with installs, client meetings and stock sourcing, that I really look forward to my weekends! I love a lazy weekend, spending time with family, walks on the beach and just generally winding down before heading into another big week.
What’s your creative process?
We start by perusing our inventory list and assessing the space we are intending on styling. We style traditional Californian bungalows, French provincial homes all the way through to super-modern minimalistic spaces, so we choose pieces based on what will best complement the home and the space we are working with.
From there, we select the catalogue of pieces we intend on using in the home and work around selecting art, flowers and small pieces that will best suit the chosen furniture. It’s a step-by-step process and one we really enjoy pulling together, either individually or in a collaboration with another team member or our client.

What’s your favourite GlobeWest piece/collection and why?
Our current favourite GlobeWest collection is the ‘Odin’ series featuring the stunning black sculptural frames with blush terrazzo. We used the round side table in the formal living area of our recent Brighton project, paired with the GlobeWest ‘Vittoria Olive’ sofa for a stunning result.
